Even if she could I think she knows it's a poisoned chalice. She's in the senate until 2031 at this stage and I can't see VicLibs giving up that seat easily - she's fairly senior in the senate.
I reckon unless her hand is forced she'll happily sit in the deputy chair until the next election at which point if they can find a 'safe seat' they might drop her in and she'll have a tilt at PM.
Personally I see Melissa McIntosh being far more ambitious in that arena. That's my 2 pundit's cents.
