Even if she could I think she knows it's a poisoned chalice. She's in the senate until 2031 at this stage and I can't see VicLibs giving up that seat easily - she's fairly senior in the senate.

I reckon unless her hand is forced she'll happily sit in the deputy chair until the next election at which point if they can find a 'safe seat' they might drop her in and she'll have a tilt at PM.

Personally I see Melissa McIntosh being far more ambitious in that arena. That's my 2 pundit's cents.

At first glance you might shrug and say "Meh." But upon consideration has a fairly decent visage and not a fugly carriage.
And there is something about gingers and the anticipation of knowledge of whether the carpet matches the drapes.

Janey's getting her own op ed pieces now - I'd be fairly surprised to find out she WASN'T instrumental in helping the whip organise votes for Angus. Suffice to say the back bench demotion came back to bite Sussan on the arse!
