But at nearly 47yo Mel still looks fantastic so if it is the end or near it, she will be missed optically. What may happen is she takes a decent paycut from her 500K a year and accepts a reduced role at the network. I mean they didn't bring old Matt White back to make the coffee and Emma Freedman is being groomed as the multi sports, rising star there.

Well I think you the extended break has been explained now, as news.com.au has reported this morning, she has broken up with Ash and is now single!
