This year could be just as challenging as her twins have finished school .... potentially she may become an empty-nester?

Lol - spoken like someone who doesn't have kids and seems to be oblivious to the financial situation right now.
My youngest is in her mid 20's, has a degree, a couple of jobs, bf and still lives at home.

Ringofyre old chum,
You really shouldn't make assumptions about people you don't know, particularly on an anonymous forum like this. I have three kids .... they all left home to go to their university of choice when 18, and they all have spouses and homes .... this is not a competition! I've always believed it is best to leave home at this age, grow up and become independent, others may disagree or may not be able to financially support them and I respect that. And it is hard for parents to let go, but it is my experience that their kids (they are adults now), love the independence.

I was merely pointing out that Kath may POTENTIALLY have both her children leaving home, depending on what course they wish to pursue, or they could take a gap year ..... and of course they could stay at home. I'm sure the cost of living is no barrier to Kath and her husband, who have substantial salaries, in providing for them either way.
