IT all started with the spiral perm and ra-ra skirt, singing I Should Be So Lucky in front of the mirror as a teen.
Then Angie Hilton had comments from strangers that she even resembled Kylie Minogue.

Now, after eight years, Angie’s Kylie tribute show is in demand as ever.
From her Geelong home, the mother of two takes her 35 costumes — including feather showgirl numbers and the infamous hot pants — together with four dancers and 25 Minogue magic songs around Victoria and the world, most recently on a South Pacific cruise ship.
“Kylie must be pretty fit, because after all the choreography and the quick costume changes it’s a killer,” the 39-year-old says.
“I think she probably doesn’t have to go home and clean the house and run around after two kids.
“I admire her. I try to be cool, but I’m not because Kylie’s cheesy pop is what inspired me to this career.”
Kylie impersonations aside, Angie’s career is a curious one.
What started out as singing lessons through her teens growing up in Geelong, became a career after she landed a gig opening the 1998 Children’s Hospital Good Friday Appeal. That led to a role as a singer on Hey Hey It’s Saturday (where she passed Kylie Minogue in the hall and was a back-up singer for the likes of Ronan Keating and later Ricky Martin) and then as a TV presenter.
All up Angie has worked for the likes of Channel 7’s Coxy’s Big Break, children’s TV shows and continues to be a presenter on caravan and camping show, What’s Up Downunder.
She has performed in her own Hilton Band, as well as the Kylie tribute.
And if that wasn’t enough she also impersonates Frida in an Abba tribute band.
“I always have a laugh with my friends that I’m nearly 40 and I still dress up. I suppose I’m a bit of a Peter Pan,” laughs Angie, whose husband Braith Cox is a former Melbourne Tigers basketballer and who is now the business manager for Geelong Football Club. “I do love Kylie — it’s a lot of fun and while I don’t listen to Abba, the crowd always goes crazy for it.
“It sounds like I do a lot of things but they’re all so random they fit into one job.”
Probably the most random act, however, is her latest venture, studying meditation and counselling through Mt Eliza’s Shiva School.
In 2010 after a lifetime of anxiety and a severe bout of depression she read Happy For No Good Reason, by the school’s founder and her life changed.
“As soon as there are no more gigs for Kylie or Abba I’m going to focus my work on this field,” says Angie, who meditates for 30 minutes every morning.
“My ultimate goal would be to teach these tools to youngsters. When you go to school no one tells you about the inner world, how to deal with emotions or how to uplift your mind.
“No one talks about it. The focus is always on the outer world.
“A lot of creative people have highs and lows. For me, it’s been so important to find something like this to balance the outer world with the inner.

Actually watched that episode yesterday, waiting for the footy. I suppose it'd be time to transfer those caps of her in a bikini for the Misc. threads?
