How does everyone feel about the interview between her and Chris Gayle? I thought it was pretty funny.

I understand the BBL are trying to attract family audiences, which is why they are taking it so serious...

But...

1. They know the WI players are party guys, the same reason why they are not in the test team.
2. Mel is hired for her good looks
3. It was flirting, not a sexual approach or demeaning
4. This happens often with female reporters to men, but doesn't get a mention
5. Can a confident man not pay a compliment these days? We're turning into a race of robots
6. The term 'baby' is as much a part of Caribbean language as 'Mate' is ours

^ I know what you mean, I initially thought one way, and then the other. At first I thought damn doesn't he get enough women as it is? But then I thought well, she's made herself up to be so attractive, and is very attractive, and if I were her and got a compliment I'd be over the moon! But THEN I thought he's not being professional though.. and she could have a partner.. but THEN I thought hell, its 20/20 - cricket that is rubbish, instantly forgettable and so who gives a stuff about any of it anyway?

So I am sitting on the fence with this one - I agree and disagree almost concurrently.

Some notes:
- Notice how the commentary team were laughing and making light of it, only when they realised they might get in trouble did they start backpeddling faster than a drunk clown. The video above is spliced to show the followup.
- When Gayle told his teammates, they all laughed.
- He apologised at the time when he realised she wasn't taking it as intended. He was joking around, and nothing he said was aggressive, downgrading, sexist or derogatory. It was a compliment if anything.
- If a man was subjected to the same, he would take it as a compliment and move on.

Would love to see a male reporter at the Netball face the same treatment.
Oh that's right, we don't have male reporters at the Netball.

I don't think he meant any harm but probably shouldn't have put her on the spot like that on live TV. She did remain professional so good for her.

She did look smoking hot as usual and thanks for the ongoing caps Narly

Silly that it's now being construed as 'workplace harrassment', yet the players are open to sledge the crap out of one another.

One thing about is that Mel is now on every channel . The other thing is , did any official persons actually talk to Mel about it ?

Spot on, selective use of worplace policies.

This should have ended off camera with a TV exec calling Mel first and asking how she took it, and what she would like to do.
I bet she didn't say "how about every channel get up his arse about it and make it headline news", it would have been more like either "nothing, let it go", or "let him know it's not OK and apologise privately"
The TV exec then contacts the team manager, and tells them it's not OK, and that as a penalty they will strip him of all interviews and mic comments (unless he wins MotM).

I wouldn't be surprised if he was MotM in a future game they "crafted" another player to win just to avoid the post-match
