Kelly is a Paralympic gold medalist and a favourite of my old hometown paper the Geelong Advertiser. She may not be a well known Sport Star but with her looks and athletic achievements, she should be. Quote: GEELONG athletics star Kelly Cartwright has become the first paralympian to win the Victorian Institute of Sport's Athlete Excellence Award.
Cartwright was overcome with emotion on Tuesday night, with the London gold medallist also claiming the VIS's paralympian of the year.
The 23-year-old shared the Athlete Excellence Award with star rower Kim Crow.
Cartwright won gold in the F42/44 long jump and also picked up silver in the T42 100m sprint.
