Devastating news that the gorgeous Mel is leaving, the programme will definately not be the same without her bubbly persona.
This probably means I will not see her again here in WA ( NOT KNOWING WHAT SHE IS GOING TO DO ) So good luck Mel all the best for the future to you and your family.
Take care

Pureg thank you for the second pic, Mel looks amazing , her body shape is the best ever

Wonder who'll takeover weekend sunrise?

Either Rebecca Maddern or Edwina Bartholemew hopefully...

Either would be great.

Nice caps, but boy you can see how badly she's aging in some of them!

Now there's a rumour Mel might host a re-jigged 4:30 news bulletin. Hardly Primetime... :???:
We'll just have to wait and see...

Apologies for the late post after Mel's departure, but I have only just re-found this site. I am disappointed that after all this time and dedication to the lovely Mel, that she did not think to give us one BIG UPPIE before she left.

I thought she was returning for a little bit before leaving the show completely?

Yep it looks like it. 'Mel is on holidays' appeared on that stupid banner this morning, but lets hope she isn't 'away' the entire time she's back. It would be great to get some final caps. Whatever the case, I'm going to record again from next week.

How The Queen Lost Her Throne - Melissa Doyle told by Channel Seven she was leaving Sunrise and taking $150,000 a year pay cut

On June 20, she announced to a national TV audience she would be stepping down to take a new role at Seven - "an incredible new opportunity".

Now it seems that "incredible" new role is a rather hastily created one that represents a demotion for the long-time queen of Australian breakfast television.

THERE was no sweetener for Melissa Doyle when told by Seven management three weeks ago that her time at Sunrise was up.

The offer at a meeting last month was non-negotiable - step down from the chair. Seven spin doctors will announce your departure as a promotion within the news department and, oh, you'll be taking a huge pay cut - in the area of $150,000 a year.

Yesterday, TV sources told Confidential a shattered Doyle accepted the terms with little complaint.

"She thought she was going to die in the chair and was stunned that the decision had been made to replace her. But, because she works and has become accustomed to being on a high salary, resigning was not an option."

A "washed-out" Doyle turned up the next day.

"It looked like she'd spent the night crying," an insider said yesterday

"She's a working mum," one insider said.

The offer from Seven bosses was for her to front the 4.30pm Seven Afternoon News bulletin - a role regarded by some news hounds as a semi-redundant position.

To make the appointment more substantial, Seven threw in the possibility of her joining former Today Tonight presenter Matt White at the desk of a new evening news bulletin on Seven's digital channel, 7Two.

Now Seven is busy trying to prepare for Doyle's return to the Sunrise desk next week following a strategic family holiday in the US.

Hair and make-up artists are now being shifted to accommodate Doyle and her replacement Sam Armytage - two women who, it seems, never really had much love for one another.
