Rowntree, 41, joined Nine as a researcher in 1992 and became Getaway presenter in 1996. As well has New Year’s Eve broadcasts and hosting duties at Nine Christmas lunch events, she was once touted as a permanent replacement for Kerri-Anne Kennerley.
But her contract has not been renewed by Nine, and follows the exit last week by Jules Lund.
The Australian reports Getaway is also tipped to be axed after 18 years because of low ratings. The show became a 5:30 weekend slot in mid-2011, drawing upon a branded-entertainment base. A spokeswoman for Nine said no decision had been made yet.
There is media speculation both Jules Lund and Liam Bartlett, who each left Nine to spend more time with family, may have both been dumped.
