SourceQuote: One of the world's most enduring and loved game shows The Price Is Right is coming back to its original home, Channel Seven, with Larry Emdur as host.
Larry said: "I've always been madly in love with this show. Its sole purpose in life, the reason it exists, is to have fun and lots of it. When I was asked if I wanted to be involved in this new version, I think I was as excited as 20 showcase winners in an inflatable spa bath."
The Price Is Right originally premiered in Australia on Seven in 1957 and has been a mainstay on Australian TV ever since.
Larry is Australia's longest serving Price host, having hosted two successful series between 1993 and 2005.
Notably, the late Ian Turpie hosted The Price Is Right, on Seven, from 1981-1986, and Larry reckons "Turps" would be thrilled the show has found its way onto our screens again.
"During our very first production meeting we all agreed we should dedicate the first episode to Ian Turpie," Larry said. "Now, we'll now have a new generation seeing the show for the first time. We can’t wait to start."
Production will begin next week, with a debut on air next month.
Larry will continue hosting with The Morning Show, with Kylie Gillies.

Well, this is good news! There was some top-notch capping material on the show years ago. So, who will be the new batch of models? And, will it be careful and conservative, or more on the raunchy side? Let's hope more the latter, hey!

I never watched the first version with Garry Meadows back in the 70's (way too busy with other things then). I watched it with Ian Turpie in the 80's and with Larry Emdur in the 90's. The best part is all the girls showing off the prizes, I remember one who's name was Suzanne(?) who used to be a lingerie model, who appeared in store catalogs regularly. I'll be watching again, and recording, in case there are capping opportunities...

The worlds going funny that way. The internet can be full of porn and is pretty much accepted but give a bloke something nice to look at of an afternoon and all hell would break loose. It's like society does it on purpose as if to pull the wool over people's eyes that they are actually concerned about the world's real issues.

Well, that was about as underwhelming a debut as I've ever seen! Nothing like Channel Nine's production. I mean, you'd expect it would be different - maybe even try to outdo it, but the whole thing looks really lackluster. I'd love to get a comparison of the Nine and Seven budgets for their respective versions of the show, because it looks like Seven are trying to do this on the cheap. Two very ordinary female models! ...is that all we get? I was going to complain about the dim lighting, but there's nothing to see, so never mind. <END OF WHINGE>

7-5-12 Appears so far to be 2 models who change clothes often, let's hope more will appear as the show goes on. And eventually there will be a holiday prize with girls in bikini's...

They need to get rid of deal or no deal to make TPIR an hour long, they also need to fix the lighting and get a couple more models.
The pacing of the show is too fast because they are trying to fit it all in to 21 minutes.
