Perhaps this thread should be renamed to the Meek (or Once Were Mighty) Adelaide Sparrows...

They probably go winless under the last 2 rounds, then win those, then the AFC look at it as hope, and get Neil Craig to sign a 3 year deal till 2015

I have no idea how Craig is in the position still. The crows are lacking any sort of passion atm. I can only assume they are awaiting the end of season when some coaches come out of contract ala Malthouse or awaiting Eade to get the flick from the Dogs.

I get sick & tired of seeing the same coaches getting dumped & popping up a year later in other AFL sides - even the ones who are clearly not finals coaches. Why strive to be average? I reckon give a new face a go.

You could get a Chris Scott who gets a good side like Geelong and makes him look good or you could get a Primus who has a really bad team and makes you look really shit. So at least getting a tried and good experienced coach would be beneficial to turn the fortunes around and gain some confidence.

A good coach, yes, but they're phenomenally hard to come by. The point I was making is that I think it's best to try new blood than an established middle-of-the-road coach. Bomber Thompson being given at go at Geelong is a good example...

Port will beat us next week and call their season a success, i dont know whats worst. I would rather finish bottom but have beaten Port twice than finish 14 or 15th and lost to Port twice.

You know, I was always philosophical in the sense that, the more we lose, the more the board will have to see what needs to be done. Yet they still remained hard-headed. Even if they do sack Craig as a coach we'll still be stuck with him from here to eternity on the selection panel...
I reckon...
Make Scott Thompson captain. Ever since he first came to Adelaide he has expressed an interest in being captain one day so he has the passion. I know he's not one of the most skilful players we've ever had but he is courageous & leads by example. I don't think anyone could dispute that. Courage & attitude makes a better leader than skills; that's why Bones McDermott was a better skipper that McGuiness.
Make "Fred" Bassett assistant coach with a clause guaranteeing him one day he will be coach. We don't want to lose another good assistant coach because the top job was given to someone else.
I don't know about a coach... I do hope they break with the tradition of getting middle of the road coaches just to keep us at #8-#10 for a few more years. Gary Lyon was approached a few years ago. He turned the job down but at least they got him as far as meeting them over as lunch meeting. Might be worth another try. Brenton Sanderson maybe. I knew Brenton when he was a teenager & playing for Sturt. He's certainly come a long way. Hmmmmm... It's hard thinking of the right coach actually...

Even if Neil Craig is replaced, the next coach would have to be somebody assoicatied with the club, so cannot see any improvement there, we need a complete offsider,, but thats just not gonna happen in this day and age, I never seen them in a situation where theres just no light at the end of tunnel.
