I actually received about 10 mails from google complaining that we only have 0.5 ad per page and that we should place at least 2... although spammers are helping to reach this goal

Google: This is the company whose motto is "don't be evil", right? czblack wrote: although spammers are helping to reach this goal These are the evil people that are benefiting the site's viability????? The formula used to be: Google = good Spammers = bad Now: Google = bad ...and because they are bad, therefore Spammers = good I'm confused.

Google: This is the company whose motto is "don't be evil", right? See the attached pic :) The fact is the site revenues went up by more than 100% since I added that banner (although we only have one day of data gathering, so I'm not jumping from joy). I don't want this site be ad-flooded, but even small amount of money can be used to promote us and bring more visitors/contributors + plenty of other things this forum needs (like new design) - in other words it's not there to buy me a new ferrari Number of people coming here still grows (at this point over 130 000 each month) and we should try to offer more/better services accordingly.

I just found his post unusual in that it referred to spammers as possibly a positive for the site's revenue, since I've never thought about spammers that way. I did misinterpret what he meant when he said Google "complained", but he has since cleared that up. (Nevertheless, I still suspect that Google might be evil )

I fixed the bug, which caused the site to go so slowly lately. Hopefully things will be alright now.

After problems with adsense I test-swiched for some to to adbrite. Dunno how to others, but it displays those annoying "your IP address was chosen to win..." blinking ads to me so far, which is not exactly what I was hoping for. I'll give it a couple of days to let it index our content and see how it can go.
EDIT: annoying full page ads are now turned off

Alright, adbrite was a mistake. Until I find some suitable solution, enjoy ad-free browsing :)

There was a sudden spike in the server traffic causing the site go offline for several hours. The site now online and we're working on not letting this happen again.
Sorry for the downtime.
