Popularity of TV presenters

Maybe this reflects my own personal taste in the female of the species, but looking at the relative popularity of the sub-forums here (i.e. newspeople & presenters most popular by far), it seems the average person here goes ga-ga for gals who present stuff on TV, even if (in my humble opinion) they're not that stunning in looks. Anybody thought the same?

I put it down to the inundation of news based shows.
We are focussing on the soapie stars and that is great but the amount of news based shows and the competition between them results in each network wanting the best looking or best body to try and woo their viewers.
I remember when guys used to race home to see Sophie Lee on the couch for the Bugs Bunny Show and now so many shows are hosted by females.
Which of course is good for us male viewers.
