De-interlacing via 8's method causes detail loss/bluring, when de-interlaced with XnView you get noise/pixelation but that the price you pay to keep the sharpness. Very subtle difference, probably not even worth posting about but ah well . (8's on the left, mine on the right)

(8's on the left, mine on the right) Umm i use XnView  , in "transformations>resize" you have the filter options , run a batch in your normal filter ( do not tick delete ) then run the same batch but with B-spline sellected.
