The patriach of the most overrated family on Australian television ( a pretty impressive feat in a industry that gave us the Daddo and Irwin families). Somehow Bert's talentless offspring have successfully traded on his name even though he was only ever the sidekick to the real entertainers.
I was pissed off when Nine gave Bud Tingwell the flick from 20 to 01 so they could give Newton (sacked by Ten) a job that was really just a pension fund. They replaced a respected and admired actor with a second banana whose comedy material is lifted straight from old episodes of Blankety Blanks. But I'm over it now *deep breath, deep breath*.

i actually think you will find that Bud Tingwell was happy to do the original series but was mostly too sick to continue rather than being given the flick from 20 to 01, i remember both of them chatting about it on KAK or somewhere ch9.
