And thanks to you 20b for also working overtime! Is Kath the ABC go-to-girl or is she being treated as a dog's body? Filling in on Weekend Breakfast once again...if she continues next week with "The Business" she will have worked 9 out of the last 10 days! Even so, Kath is well suited to the Weekend Breakfast format, where her personality and wit can shine....she was particularly vivacious today. Of course she is excellent on "The Business", but it's production is somewhat stilted, and acts like a strait-jacket on Kath's natural sparkling demeanour. So, where is Kath's career going? She had virtually "been there, done it all" when she resurfaced at the ABC in 2015, after a lay-off of about a year or more. Clearly burnt by the commercial channels, where two or three major programs she was fronting folded, she must have had her self-confidence shattered. Tuning 40, Kath was welcomed into the bosom of Auntie ABC, quietly reading mostly non prime-time news for a number of years, before venturing into a few extra programs: "One-Plus-One", "The Drum"(mostly when Julia was ill), Weekend Breakfast and now "The Business". As a career journalist, Kath needs a challenge. To be continued....

Not sure 20b why your images of Kath on The Drum are so much more clearer (lighting?). Love the hair looking a little wilder and particularly those delightful dimples in pics 6 and 11.

Right on cue, Kath is on The Drum at last!! This is what I was alluding to when I said that Kath needs a new challenge. She is a natural as the host of The Drum. Kath just looks so happy, engaged and professionally fulfilled performing this difficult role. She has done the hard yards and served her "apprenticeship" with the ABC in various roles, but it is this program which offers the most challenges, and she clearly enjoys the challenge. An hour-long LIVE program, coordinating responses from 4-6different "experts", 5 nights a week (no Ad breaks like commercial TV), has to be one of the most demanding roles on Australian TV. To me The Drum has become the premier current affairs program on the ABC, and Kath has clearly demonstrated that she would make a terrific permanent principal host.
