You can see the reflection of the tele prompter in some of those pics.
Here they are, in the middle of a cyclone, and yet she still has to have a teleprompter?

Here they are, in the middle of a cyclone, and yet she still has to have a teleprompter? That's the difference between presenters and journalists. Don't get me wrong, I'm definitely a Mel fan, but these days, she is no journalist (if indeed she ever was). It's a waste of time sending her up to cover events like this, apart from the promos that channel 7 will be able to squeeze out afterwards, with her famous face in amongst the victims of disaster, so they can promote the whole "we are the REAL news channel" thing. Not meaning to sound too cynical, but the way that networks capitalise on these situations and compete with each other to cram in the tragedy is quite disgraceful. Off topic I know... Sorry! Cheers, Tuxedo.

Totally concur Tux.. cant see why 7, 9 & 10's local reporters (who put the hard yards in reporting their local news normally!), didn't get a run, while the big name "ambulance chasers" did!!.. plus, I wonder how much of a burden in resources, etc were these blow-in tv crews on the locals? also, did you see how "spooked" Mel looked when Grant Denyer told her, the day before the cyclone hit, that it had enough energy to run the town she was in for 2 years!! she didn't look real comfortable at all!!

Cannot understand why people like to just make up stuff...there was no teleprompter. Just a camera. And these journos don't just decide to go cover these stories...their bosses make that call and send them in. So if you want to bag someone, bag their bosses, not them. They're just doing their job.

Actually Hendo, I'm not "bagging" Mel. Just pointing out that she is a presenter, and not a journalist. If you read my post carefully, my comments were squarely directed at the networks, who send non-journalists up there, to exploit their famous faces. Peace. :) Tuxedo.
