solz wrote: Caps, at the moment, i'm using an older Hauppauge TV tuner with Windows Media Centre. I had problems with other tuners in Windows 7 that had other PVR software, which is why I went back to what worked. But that was a year ago, and there may be more tuners now that work for Windows 7.
In terms of de-interlacing, it's something I've never really grasped fully, but at the moment, following converting the recorded WTV format in Windows Media Centre to MPEG format, I just use a function that's available in VLC Media Player that allows you to playback recorded media and de-interlace it during playback on-the-fly. During that de-interlaced playback, is when I take screencaps using the snapshot function in VLC. The post prior to the last in this topic, I forgot to set a deinterlace mode which is why there were jaggies in those caps (now re-posted those caps with a bit less jagginess). The signal I get isn't as strong as it should be, so the caps should probably be a little better than what I actually post (especially for lower quality, blockier 576i SD broadcasts). Thanks solz, for your infos. I currently also use VLC to cap and decide to choose the "X" de-interlacing mode. Cheers,
