A recent post she was to have from last night to be on Facebook (although me the person to post this isn't into opera but she looks great with this dress though) is this
🎭🎶Last night was iconic. Literally the definition of the word! Phantom. Fireworks. Masquerade. A massive Chandeleir suspended over stunning Sydney Harbour. Gondoliers. Opera Australia. Andrew Lloyd Webber. 🙌 Need I say more? A magnificent, magical night under the stars at The Phantom of the Opera on Sydney Harbour ✨🌙 words can’t even describe the epic-ness!
From the moment that giant chandelier rose above the water (via a crane), on a windy Sydney night! I was completely transported. The ominous threat adding to the tension & mystique throughout!
This 40th anniversary production by @operaaustralia at Mrs Macquaries Point is nothing short of breathtaking - dramatic, spine-tingling and utterly unforgettable.
I’ve known and loved this music forever - ever since I was a little girl listening to Michael Crawford on repeat thanks to Mum — and yet somehow had never seen Phantom live. (I know my bad, right?) And what a way to experience it for the very first time.
Soprano @amy_manford as Christine was whimsical and luminous, and the young 22yo Phantom from QLd @jakelyle delivered a performance 🎭 of a lifetime - well beyond his years. Haunting, powerful and completely mesmerising. And young @jarrod_draper is a Disney prince in the making.
Bravissimo to musical supervisor @guysimpsonguy for being the score to life. Music of the Night will live with me for a long long time!
Beyond that the actual staging defies logic. The fact this set is on the harbour literally with multiple cranes swinging in sets gracefully without noticing throughout the performance is an engineering feat not to be believed.
Seriously - I’m a musical theater gal but this is theatre at its most spectacular. Truly iconic in every sense of the word.
Thank you to Opera Australia and @caitlineames.pr PR for such an extraordinary evening — and of course to @andrewlloydwebber for creating a masterpiece that continues to captivate generations.
If you get the chance… go. Run. Don’t miss it.
