McLaughlin confirmed she’d tested negative in daily tests conducted by Seven on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and on Boxing Day morning, before developing a few symptoms later that evening and conducting a PCR test.
That test came back positive.
“It was a very big shock,” she said.
The Seven commentator said her symptoms developed overnight.
“I got a bit croaky, runny nose, chills — I was pretty sick for a couple of days,” she said on Friday, on her fifth day of a seven-day isolation.
As part of its standard Covid protocol, Seven immediately moved to replace its entire on-air commentary line-up.
