Commercial TV news must be 90% female now, and the ABC isn't far behind.
It's good that it's no longer the case that only males are considered authoritative, but given that commercial TV news is increasingly tabloid, and less likely to be people's primary news source, who needs authoritative. Fuckability is more than ever the kicker that a smart reporter or newsreader needs. Along with a reasonable grasp of English, that's all that a viewer really needs.
Female viewers will remain happy while the female presence continues to appear empowering. They are unlikely to be as keen for himbos, leaving few males in the distinguished crumpet pipeline.
Those poor male cadets must be getting sick of "you're not quite what we're looking for." And I'm sure the female hires are not too pleased about having to cover movie premieres.
