I must be the only one who realises Star Trek is about something and shouldn't rely on FX and one liners! It's not a Star Trek movie it just uses the character names

A mate of mine (a Star Wars fan), who spent about twenty minutes telling me how great this moofy was, said that the development process went something like:
"What's wrong with Star Trek?"
"It's shit!"
"Okay, what's not shit?"
"Star Wars."
"Okay, let's do it like that."

Ahh so that's why the new Enterprise was like a cross between a star destroyer and an Apple store

I hope he got it wrong though. Being of X-generation, I grew up with Star Wars & barely had a days since I was little where I saw or heard something to do with that particular movie franchise. For some reason, I'm one of the few that never grew to love Star Wars. I actually enjoyed the Trek moofies more (well, the good ones anyway).
