Perth's Gracie Gilbert on an upward SLiDE
PERTH actor Gracie Gilbert, 18, has landed one of the lead roles in FOX8's new "raw and real" teen drama SLiDE, which started filming in Brisbane this week.
Gilbert's first major television gig was as Vicki Streeton in the beachy local kids' production Lockie Leonard, but SLiDe - a show that sounds like it will appeal to fans of UK series Skins - will see her tackling some edgier subject matter.
The pay-TV series was written with close consultation with teenagers to ensure that it was a realistic portrayal of growing up as a Gen Y in Australia. It's therefore no surprise that it will be closely integrated with Facebook, Twitter, an online graphic novel and a dedicated website so that fans can follow storylines off air.
"The thing that sets this show apart from a lot of other shows is the fact it's got this multi-platform thing going on," said Gilbert said while on a break from shooting in Brisbane. "I just think it's a new way of attracting attention from the target audience. I think it's quite clever.
"There's nothing on TV like it at the moment I think it's exactly what people of that age group want to watch. It is indicative of what people are up to at the age of 17."
Gilbert's character Tammy - a fledging music journalist - is one of five teenagers followed on the show as they negotiate a bumpy path to adulthood.
"I really like music and I can totally relate to someone wanting to have a career in that field" Gilbert said. "It's something that I feel passionately about and I guess I share that with Tammy."
SliDE is set to go to air on FOX8 mid August

I hope it is raunchier than Skins & more fun , less dark .. according to reviews i have seen.

Man she looked hot n sexy on last weeks episode (episode 2). Would have been some awesome caps if someone did them. Showed alot of cleavage.

Yeah, no luck on the caps front still (or even in watching the thing). But have y'all checked out the official website yet? In particular the webisodes?
