Actress Eliza Taylor reveals she suffered concussion on the set of US series The 100 after a stunt went awfully wrong.
Eliza, 24, tells Soap Extra her role as Clarke Griffin in the post-apocalyptic drama is incredibly action-packed.
But only the smallest mistake when filming stunts can have bad consequences.
“We’re filming season two at the moment and it’s a lot more physical,” she says.
“I have smashed my head and been concussed.”
Eliza explains the stunt coordinator had shown her “a million times” how to do the maneuver.
“But I got lost in the moment and instead of pretending to hit my head on the cement floor, I really did hit my head,” she says.
“It was painful. They’ve got footage of it and apparently I just bounced off the floor, but I don’t want to watch it!”
The concussion isn’t the only injury she’s suffered on set.
Eliza has also put her back out doing fight training.
“But it comes with the territory,” she says, laughing it off.
“You’ve got to expect to have a few bumps and scrapes along the way on a show like this.
“They’re really good and have a doctor on set to look after us.”
The show is a big break in the US for Eliza, who is well known to Aussie audiences for portraying Janae Timmins in Neighbours.
But she admits it’s been a tough slog to get there.
She became disillusioned with the acting industry for several years after her time in Neighbours.
“When I was 21 I decided to give it a go in LA and I didn’t sign with a good manager and was really disheartened and I did give up,” she admits.
“I ended up coming home and teaching drama and working at a restaurant and behind a bar in a nightclub for a couple of years.”
The passion for acting never went away though.
“I think the moment was mopping up at the end of a really long shift at the restaurant and I thought ‘I’ve got to get out of here!’” she laughs.
“It took me a couple of years to give it another go, but this second time has done the trick!”
