"I was like 'stuff them', I'm not going to let this perception of weight in the industry control how I live my life," she said.
"But being on television, it does add weight. Everyone I meet says 'oh, you're so much smaller in real life -- in height and in body'.
"TV definitely does that and people don't realise so it's heaps tough because you can be totally healthy in real life and you still watch yourself on TV and you look bigger than you thought you were."
Breeds, who is 2011 ambassador for fitness-wear Running Bare, does not lack confidence. She plans to join fellow Aussie actors in Hollywood, but not this year.
"I'm a very big believer of the phrase 'don't jump ponds until you've outgrown them', and my time on Home and Away
is not through at all so I'm definitely looking to throw myself into that more," she said.

thanks The only chance of that is if HAA is broadcast in HD in the UK, sadly it is only shown in standard def of seven
