Let's face it, I never watched the show for the stories and I'm never going to be able judge it completely objectively. It's cost cutting too; they never felt the need to find a replacement for Jackie. There is a difference from being cute and quirky like Jacky was/is and being a 'model type' . I'm sure Willow has her 'niche' and she might even be doing a good job of what she's doing at the moment as far as a lot of people are concerned. For me, however, it's all a bit forced and I miss Jacky in her short shorts.

agreed the new show format is forced and the lightheartedness of the old gone. Jac was the reason for originaly watching for me personally, haven't seen enough of the new girl to offer any real opinion on her apeal.

In the Shak of yore, even though Kendal, Jacqui and co. were playing characters, they were still being themselves to a large degree. I miss that. With the original Shaksters, and the original version of the show, you could tell they all got along really well. Nitro and Curio were pretty funny. I mean, the scripts are okay. There's some pretty funny material. But I miss the original format. (Mind you, I haven't watched it much since Kendal left. Oh my Lordy, I do likes the Kendal.)

I actually like the idea of turning it into a quasi sitcom, in theory, but in practice, it doesn't work. These guys, including the writers, obviously have too much on their hands and too little time to make anything with it.
The original with JD and KN was kinda fun for a kids show. perhaps they should have just tried to add a little bit more of an ongoing story into the original format via a few more location shoots of a non informational nature. All the Nitro/Penny/Curio stuff was too half-baked and quasi-serious to work and I refuse to believe that such a naturally charismatic character such as 'Curio' could be such a down-right crap actor as the finished product would suggest.
