Anyone know anything about this format. Even VLC chokes on it

Lots of TVs encrypt recordings these days, and encryption key is unique to that TV (not the manufacturer or model but that particular TV). Even if you move the hard drive to another identical TV, it couldn't play the recordings. It's just bastardly, and to think they all use open source these days.
