My PVR was a gift from a friend, but I never really liked it. Anyway, the hard disk recently died. I can still record, but only to USB. So I am going to start researching a replacement. Anybody got any advice - or recommendation a product? |

Netflix I used a home-brew MythTV box in various incarnations for years but gave up when the power supply in the last one died. I thought about replacing it and realised that I don't watch TV any more. So I didn't bother. |

I have Strong brand STB's... http://strong.com.au/ I have 2 of them for recording, they have no hard drives, I record to 1 Terrabyte portable drives so I can cap on the PC, edit out video's for Youtube etc Make sure what you buy is MPEG4 compatible too... |

Well, the crappy old PVR finally died: Stone dead; wouldn't even switch on. So, I now have a Panasonic DMR-PWT560GN, which set me back about $450. Seems to do all that I want, although getting it to run via my VPN will be my next challenge. ...and, before you say it, Sharkboi ; it is NOT MPEG4 compliant. However, I have not yet found non compliance with MPEG 4 to be an issue. If I encounter a .mpeg4 file, I can convert it, but so far I haven't needed to do so. Anyway, early days, so I'll see how this goes. |

Well, here I am again. *sigh* My Panasonic PVR is on the way out. Recording has now become unreliable, and the remote is nearly dead. Time to replace it. Any suggestions/recommendations? |

Any suggestions/recommendations? Topfield TF7100HD , if you can find one ! It's about the only one that you can do recordings of recordings I've found . Handy if you want to keep snippets of a show |

Handy if you want to keep snippets of a show Thanks for that. It seems though, that Topfield has abandoned the Australian market, and the TF7100HD is quite old. I would rather have something that is current, and actively supported by the manufacturer. Does anyone have the Fetch Mighty Gen 4 1TB 4K? It's around $445, and seems to have great specs, but I wonder about the build quality. |

The same Fetch model at JB-HI FI is only $399, I too am looking at upgrading as my Panasonic DMR-BWT955 is dying, but want an itergrated unit with Blueray and recordable device, But the fetch Looks good |
