I was on NBN FTTN and having constant dropouts - I think it was because of my dodgy copper as even when working it wouldn't support more than 50Mbps. I had an NBN tech come out to do a FTTP upgrade but that ended in tears because they said my house layout (bedroom and garage are kerb facing) meant that it would have to go the bedroom or else run the length of the house in external conduit to get to where I wanted it at the back of the house.
I had my contractors quote on extending the NBN provided fibre from a front entry point to where I wanted it but they said it would be difficult to do that within the NBN rules on total number of turns. In the end I decided I could tolerate letting them put the NBN box low on my bedroom wall and having my own Cat 6 run from there back to my router through internal conduit in the ceiling. That also turned out to be a problem for NBN as they claimed there was a problem getting through the wall to put the NBN box in the easiest possible spot right where the entry point to the property was. I asked a sparky about it and they said the NBN guy just didn't want to do it.
I now have 5G as I signed up to a plan to see if my preferred spot in the house had good 5G coverage and it does. I'm on a 100Mbps plan but usually getting around 120Mbps. It should support faster than that if I ever need it. Got my fingers crossed hoping that future congestion doesn't erode my speed.
