Meares did elbow Pendleton on the last turn but viewing the first sprint in slow motion, I am not convinced that the elbow during the last turn caused Pendleton's front wheel to go over the red line and that Meares cheated like so many people (outside of Australia) are claiming to be the case given that Pendleton was well below the red line after the turn and straight for a second (despite the elbow) before crossing over that red line.
It may have been a completely different story if Meares had made contact again with Pendleton during the part immediately after the turn around the time when Pendleton crossed the red line, but that didn't happen.

This the the gold medal I most wanted to see won. The Anna Meares story is an amazing & inspiring comeback story.
A proud day for all Australians, particularly us Adelaideans (who always knew she would do it). Good girl.

If she does go to Rio 2016, you'd think she'd have to be one of the strongest candidates to be the flag bearer at those Olympics.

I personally think the Comma-sere did the right thing and adhered to the rules. In cycling, nudging, push and shove etc happens all the time without penalty. I saw no different with Meares and Pendleton. What was evident is the wheel of Pendleton crossing the red line which is in the rule books. The elbowing/nudging is not the issue here and those 'fans' who think otherwise need to read the rules and move on.
