Any thoughts from people who watched the launch? I was a bit peeved at ABC HD being canned to make way for the 24 hour news channel but I have to admit I like the format. And not just because we get to see Ali Moore's legs. :)

Is this News channel in HD only or are they doing a standard definition as well? Reason I ask is Foxtel have it in there HD lineup but not as a standard definition version for the like of me who can't afford to pay for the HD Foxtel package. Someone out there with a standard TV antenna witha settop box that only does Standard definition should be able to confirm for me Thanks in advance

I'm totally pissed off, I don't have HD not only because I can't afford it, but because there is not enough reason to bother. Why bother spending big for just a bloody sports channel and a news channel!! If there was a decent entertainment channel or two I might think about it.

I don't mind having a 24 hour news channel but, if that is correct, it's a waste of HD if you ask me. Using two HD channels; one for 24 hour sports & the other for 24 hour news? What were they thinking...

Thanks Skaven The annoying part is: this is the ABC It is a tax payer funded channel. Remember 2 cent per day per person But if we have Foxtel we must subscribe to a higher monthly package get the 'FREE' access service or If we have not upgraded our TV set to HD models or purchaesed a HD version settop box then where is my 2 cents per day providing me with a full 100% return OK Julia Gillard fix that one since you collect my 2 cent per day

Being an Adelaidean, one thing I did like about ABCHD was that it was a national broadcast. What this meant for us is that, if ABC local decided to replace normal viewing with some special screening of something I didn't want to see which was always on ABC2/21, all I had to do was turn over to ABCHD20 to watch my usual programmes. Granted it didn't happen terribly often but it was nice to have the choice. I imagine there's already quite a number of Anti- Football League members who liked ABCHD20 as a means to escape the ABC2/21 SANFL broadcast on Saturday afternoons. I see there's a new David Attenborough series starting tonight. I'm a big fan of David's work & think it would be much nicer to be able to see this series in HD than someone reading the news. I suppose I could always switch over to Channel Sandra's HD channel to watch the Latvian goldfish racing. Anyone want to buy a $10,000 home entertainment system...?
