I think you'll find that it doesn't get much better as the time goes. There is simply not that much quality content to fill the time of so many TV channels. While I lived in the UK during 2007, they had 45 free-to-air channels and about third of those was on delayed telecast showing exactly the same content as it's sister channels, with 1 hour delay. And most of them had crap content and constant repeats.
