Hey Skaven , remember the old thread on garden ponds / water features ? I was just wondering what sort of pump/ filter you use if you still have said feature .

Yup. I remember. I just spent spent about $80 last night getting six plants for the pond & three for the bog.

I have a ClariTec 5000 UV-C filter & a Laguna 7500 Max Flo pump.

The pond's about half a metre deep & I've got a 32mm hose from the pump to the filter which is about a metre & a half.

The hose from the filter to the creek (which flows into the bog) is a 25mm about four or five metres long (hence the 7500 pump).

I can tell you about the whole set up if you're interested.

G'day Skaven , sorry I haven't replied earlier . I got hit by a computer virus yesterday and am still fighting it . ( could be a call for help soon ). Anyway , your system is a lot more technical than mine . I just run a pump (3000 l/h ) with a foam block filter .
The thing is I seem to be replacing them every 2 years . Either shafts breaking or the motor stuffs up. They have all been supposedly good quality pumps sold by supposedly reputable people .I was just wondering if this was a normal lifespan for a pump ?

I don't know as the pump I'm using now I only got about ten months ago. The old one which I got when I first made the pond wasn't worn out, it just wasn't powerful enough for the extensions (i.e. bigger bog, creek & stream). I've had the filter since the beginning & that still seems to work okay. I just take out the sponges & rinse them out once a year.

Re: Your PC
Go to Tech Support Guy or Bleeping Computer or one of those sites, join, create a new thread & describe what's wrong. They'll probably tell you to download & run HijackThis, paste the result (which shows all your application files) & they'll look through & tell you what it is & how to get rid of it. That's what I did when it happened to me.
