Excellent Macc.. made me laugh too.

Dunno about anyone else, but any swinging voter would have to really wonder what will happen to their vote next time with Labor. I think it's dreadful... no absolutley disgusting that an elected leader can be ousted by his/her own party. What's the point voting for a leader? Why not vote for a party instead and base it on Economic Credentials or policies and let them decide whose going to lead them.

Better still, let's do a likeable vote based on a race on who can bag the crap out of the other bette. More money to the geriatrics, more medical centres for Immigrant Doctors (who ovciously got their qualifications via correspondence), more tax for immigrant doctors, more immigrants and give them jobs and housing over Aussie Citizens here already, more income for high security prisoners (cuz they can't spend it. Good savings scheme.. haha) Blaa blaa blaa. . . .

A vote for Labor for me is a vote for In-fighting Individuals who think within also wanting a crack at the leadership.

VotE 1 4 Backstabbers.

And the Coalition have gone through 3 leaders, two back stabbed. Howard did a job on Peacock and only remained in 2007 because he refused to go after being asked to go by his party, and this after he back stabbed Costello by reneging on a deal he did with him to change leadership.

Abbott only got in by one vote and only because two party members who would have voted Turnbull were absent. So Abbott hasn't the majority support of the party which means they will oust him the first chance they get.

Politics is a cutthroat and always has been. Get over it, and stop trying to use this leadership spill as an ideological attack.

You do know that the Nationals and Liberals are infighting as well, so why would you vote for those infighting bastards?

But, the other way of looking at that is that, technically, no one in Australia voted for him unless they were in his electorate. And the people in his electorate who did vote for him still have him as their elected representative.

Correct. Most people don't understand the difference between the legislative and executive branches of government. The legislative branch (the Parliament) is elected. The executive branch (the Prime Minister and Cabinet, formally known as the Federal Executive Council) is appointed by the Governor-General. We never, ever vote for a Prime Minister. The same applies with state Premiers.

You missed the point modecko. "The People" voted Rudd into office as the leader of the party then his party ousted him. Labor is notorious for this - just like Keating over Hawke. Don't talk to me about ideological attacks when you cannot even see the forest through the trees.

Beazly, Creen for labor leadership years ago... aint no difference, Nub.
I deal with facts that affect "the people", so how 'bout you get over your straw-splitting and off your little pedestal.

You missed the point Rusty, the people didn't vote in Rudd as PM the party did, and the party voted him out.

The party voted out Nelson, Turnbull and Howard as well for that matter only Howard refused to go. Abbott is only there as leader because two of the party members who would have voted for Turnbull were absent from the vote. There's no absentee voting in the party room.

Labor notorious, what about what Howard did to Peacock and even worse the renege to Costello, that is a really low act, which is why his own party called Howard the Rodent.

You don't deal with facts at all Rusty, you just proved you deal with ideology so it's easy to see who may not be on a pedestal but certainly has their head buried in the sand.

Spill announced as Liberal leadership up for grabs
Leadership spill: Nelson draws 'line in the sand'

Ousting party leaders is part and parcel of party politics and it even happened to the Democrats, to pretend it's only a Labor thing is to be an ostrich.
