Terminal illness such as cancer can be cured by prayer, the head of the Catholic Church in Australia says.

But Catholic Archbishop of Sydney Cardinal George Pell admits such cures, like the miracle attributed to Mary MacKillop, is rare.

"Yes, obviously (cancer can be cured by prayer)," Cardinal Pell told ABC television today.

Is this a preview of the Coalition's new Health policy for Cancer treatment? :chuckel:

It certainly explains how the Howard Govt treated funding to health in the economy during their "rain" :P

Humphrey it's how they're going to fix the health and education areas with one policy.

Compulsory Bible studies in schools will have all the kids praying for the sick and dying which will cure them and save the health system billions.

I wonder what the little kiddies will say when they read the bit that says;

Quote:
If there arise among you a prophet, or a dreamer of dreams, and giveth thee a sign or a wonder, and the sign or the wonder come to pass whereof he spake unto thee, saying, 'Let us go after other gods, which thou hast not known, and let us serve them'; Thou shalt not hearken unto the words of that prophet, or that dreamer of dreams: For the Lord your God proveth you, to know whether ye love the Lord you God with all your heart and with all your soul. Ye shall walk after the Lord your God, and fear him, and keep his commandments, and obey his voice, and ye shall serve him, and cleave unto him.
And that prophet, or that dreamer of dreams, shall be put to death; because he hath spoken to turn you away from the Lord your God, which brought you out of the land of Egypt, and redeemed thee out of the house of bondage, to thrust thee out of the way which the Lord thy God commanded to walk in. So shallt thou put the evil away from the midst of thee.

Deuteronomy Chapter 13 verses 1-5.

So, if I am a Christian, and anyone suggests to me that I should convert to their religion, I should kill him! What a charming religion.
Since this is from the Old Testament, it is a cornerstone of all Jewish, Islamic, and Christian faith.
(The verses following (6-10) that are probably my favourite verses to quote from the Old Testament. They are even more vicious than the ones I just quoted. Absolutely horrific stuff.)

Surely, every secular Liberal must be quaking in there boots!

We are not in recession: [strike]Pope[/strike] Archbishop Pell has confirmed.

We thank God Australia has escaped recession

Of course! Neither John Howard, nor Kevin Rudd, had anything to do with "escaping recession"; it was God's work!

Some interesting things here in the three articles on religion in The Drum Unleashed.

Does it matter if God exists attempts to state that does it really matter if people believe in a god whether it exists or not as long as they are leading good lives because of that belief. Problem with that meme is that there wouldn't be a problem if a belief in god was only used to lead good lives, but far too often religion is used to justify many horrific and morally corrupt things, like the September 11 WTC attacks and the invasion of Iraq.

Attempting to portray Santa who was born out of a Coca Cola ad as a symbol of God. You know Christian authorities and authors are getting desperate when a character dreamt up by an ad agency for a syrapy beverage has toppled their 2000 year old symbol as the face of Christmas, so now they attempt redefine the non-Christian symbol of Christmas as a Christian one.

Yet another attack on atheism, which the Christian Church is doing more and more these days. This one is interesting not for the article, which is the usual Christian guff and spin, but for the responses to it that tear the article apart.

Labor urged to dump 'item of ridicule' Rudd

Former Queensland Labor treasurer Keith De Lacy says the party should dump Prime Minister Kevin Rudd as leader.

Mr Rudd was working in the Queensland Government when Keith de lacy was Treasurer.

Mr De Lacy, who is now chairman of mining company Macarthur Coal, says if Labor does not replace Mr Rudd it faces a decade out of power.

In an opinion piece for The Australian newspaper, Mr De Lacy writes the Prime Minister has become an "item of ridicule".

He says he regrets there is no alternative but to change the leader for someone who cares about Australia and the electability of the Labor Party.

Mr De Lacy says the federal Labor Caucus has little time to waste.

Some members of the Caucus have expressed concern about loss of support because of the conflict between the Government and the mining industry over Mr Rudd's proposed mining super profits tax.

But despite increased pressure from the industry and sinking support in opinion polls, Mr Rudd yesterday dismissed suggestions he was getting ready to compromise on the proposed tax.

The Westpoll published in the West Australian newspaper shows Labor's primary vote in WA has fallen to just 26 per cent compared with the Coalition's 52 per cent.

After preferences, the Coalition leads 62 per cent to Labor's 38 per cent.

The Westpoll surveyed 400 people compared with national polls which question more than 1,000 people.

Ah, so let me see. What have we got here?

An ex Labor State Cabinet member, that is now generously employed in the mining sector, putting forward the proposal that Rudd must be removed. If the Labor party don't follow his opinion they will be out of power for "a generation". Any chance he might be a bit biased?

Useless trivia: This will be the first election since 1913 when neither of the major party leaders was born in Australia. Gillard was born in Barry, Wales. Abbott was born in London, England.

O.M.G "Breaking News" - Kevin Rudd in hospital getting his gall bladder taken out.

Personally i think there are a lot more stories they could have put on the top of the broadcast instead of a simple surgery.
