Has anyone purchased anything through Amazon . If so how was the experience , any problems ?

Yeah, it wasn't too bad. There's quite a few venomous spiders & serpents you have to watch out for & I once got chased by an angry monkey but the indigenous Indians were very nice. But they didn't have much I wanted to buy, mainly nuts, berries, few simple wood products & the chief's eldest daughter. I was reliably informed that children are a big sell item but apparently Madonna just bought out their whole season's stock...

Just be careful about prices - they are usually US$, not AU$. I fell for that trick

Wife used it a couple of years ago to buy a book, still waiting for the book to arrive...no response from complaints either...never touch it, there are enough online stores now to allow avoiding it completely.

beware - everry item will cost au 18 in post and most sellers don't combine postage.
never buy used product especially cds.

the one time i used it and was happy i bought 10 michael jackson dangerous pop uo books (sealed) for au20 plus au 30 post . that was 1999.i won't sell them .

I've sold heaps of stuff on eBay & only had one person say the item never arrived. He was in the UK but wanted it sent to an address in the UK so it was a bit strange.

I sold a pond pump recently which could've gone better as the buyer gave me a bad review saying it was older than a year as I described (which it wasn't), there was some damage to the cable (which there wasn't), the insides were worn (which they weren't as I was still using it up until I packaged it) & raving on about not having the warranty (which I never said I had & was the main reason I let it go cheap). The bottom line is s/he got a good pump at a good price so can lump it!

We only ever bought two things; a CD player from a local bloke he even bougt it round & waited until I plugged it into the entertainment system & tested it. We paid cash & got it at a bargain price too! The other item was a phone which we never received. We communicated with the person & it seems it just got lost in the post (it was around Christmas time after all).

I have a couple of friends who buy on eBay all the time & say it's okay as long as you use PayPal because hat's the only time they'll refund you if you don't get it.

I bought some technical literature through Amazon about 3 years ago, it went without a glitch. Books were shipped from Germany and arrived within 7 days. One was back-ordered and it arrived after 3 weeks. Other than the obvious (US prices, shipping rates), there is no catch to it. And you can get some real bargains, depending on the exchange rate.

I have also bought what are normally very expensive specialist technical books through Amazon that were second hand and described as in in good condition. I have also bought some hardback novels new.

No problems whatsover, I could track my deliveries and I promptly got exactly what was described. I won't hesitate to use Amazon again.

Dymocks online is another story. I ordered an original Watchmen through them and it took ages to get to me after a lot of emails and a phone call. Only good thing is that somehow I stumbled on a Dymock's website page from a Google search that was selling the illustrated book a third cheaper than if you went through the Dymocks home page to the Watchman sales page. Don't know how that came about and I've not been able to repeat it.
