Tzipi Livni - Israeli Foreign Affair Minister (seriously, Foreign Affairs)

Not so much a celebrity per se, yet every time I turn on my TV over recent weeks I see this bitch spewing all kinds of vitriol.
The most frustratingly sad thing about her is the way she seems to have a sense of indignant self righteousness that makes any hate filled tripe that comes out of her mouth seemingly justified (in her mind at least).

She also has the innate ability to totally not recognize, or care about the other viewpoint at all. Or the plight of any civilians caught up in the mix.

Now, I don't profess to be a political scientist, or even know what I'm on about, but to me Israel is behaving much like the Nazis did in WWII.

"We will not compromise on Hamas."
Sound familiar?

*sigh*

Can of worms there, Em. After reading a fair bit about the Israel / Palestine thing, I still don't fully get it. Suffice to say that the hatred there knows no bounds. In simple terms, Israel wants what they think is rightfully theirs, while the Nazis just wanted the whole world.

The Middle East problem sometimes makes me think of a snake eating itself. We have Palestine which is a virtual imprisoned nation surrounded by Israel & then you have Israel which is, in turn, surrounded by Islamic nations. It's just really sad how things have turned out over there & very unfortunate when we hear European governments criticising their actions when it was they who basically created the problems in the Middle East. It's really quite amazing when you look at maps of that region before WWI & see how much the region has been changed...

Personally, I still think the Rwandan & Congolese problem is much worse because we're talking about genocide & some of the people who are over there to help & contributing to the problems. The only reason it doesn't get as much media coverage is because there's not an invested global interest (ie: oil) in the region...

The other difference is Germany took most of the nations by force by the Palestinians agreed to let the Jews in after negotiations - providing they weren't to exceed more than 10% of (British) Palestine's population.

But, of course, no one then knew what the extent of the European Holocaust would be & during the aftermath Jews still wanted to get out which was understandable. Some of them had lived in countries where they already got screwed by Germany twice in their life times. Others were fleeing from what were free countries before the war were now told (after negotiations of the three "benevolent" empires) that they were Soviet countries & they did not want to enduring Stalin right after they already had to endure Hitler. And Stalin was no better, (I think) even worse...

But the problem just went out of the fry pan into another fry pan. Funny how they seem to have a propensity to always do that...

Messy. No easy fix.

And of course because "America" needs to keep the Israeli state alive so that when Jesus returns, to save all the good christians, he won't be all cranky.

I also don't get how the jewish people, a race that has been so persecuted over the years/decades/whatever, can be so sold on the idea of mass genocide.

Strikes me a kinda ironic.

The situation from Israel's perspective is that they have to be militant, they have to be strong & they have to let the world or at least the region) that they're not taking any shit. If they did not do that it'd be more than just Palestine they'd be having problems with &, for all we know, some of the the surrounding Arab nations may have formed a coalition to finish off the job that Hitler started. This is what their fear is & there is a part of me that can understand that.

Yeah, I've watched & read matter about the top brass at the Pentagon believing that the day of reckoning will be in the Holy Land & that for our souls to be saved it has to be a Christian nation & on the Day of Reckoning, the Jews who convert to Christianity's souls will be saved. I have no doubt that there are some nut cases who believe that but I think what we see & read is the result of paranoid conspiracy theorists blowing it out of proportion.

Sad thing is, having Jews surrounded by Muslims is probably never going to work. I know that's a simplistic view, but it's what it all boil downs to.

The Christian Right's fundamental views are a bit scary.

Particularly when they are populated (& ruled) by persons who don't even believe they are following a religion so much as an actual historical event/s.

Getting this thread back on track.

I hate Paris Hilton. Here's one reason why:

http://www.news.com.au/entertainment/st ... 60,00.html

PARIS Hilton claims she's only slept with "a couple" of men.
The sex tape star who is rarely seen without a bloke on her arm told Glamour magazine: "I've only ever done it with a couple of people.

"People make up stories, but mostly I just kiss. I think it's important to play hard to get.

"Nobody wants the fake Prada bag - they want the brand new bag that no one can get and is the most expensive.

"If you give it up to a guy he won't respect you. He'll want you much more if he can't have you."

Paris also said that she wasn't tempted to go down the same road as Lindsay Lohan, who is in a lesbian relationship with DJ Samantha Ronson, The Sun reported.

"No - it's not really my lifestyle," she said.

However, she said she could be considered a feminist icon.

"I think so - I'm a strong woman who doesn't depend on a man for anything and I believe in girl power.

Yeah, right, and I'm the Queen of Sheba
