A question, just because I'm curious about such things, no need to disclose if you don't wish to for some reason... How much disk space does the site use up, and how much bandwidth is consumed per month? How is this paid for?

How much disk space does the site use up, and how much bandwidth is consumed per month? How is this paid for? You pay simply by your credit card monthly/quaterly/yearly/... How much you pay depends on the size of the site and amount of it's visitors. Simply said small site = shared webhosting (mostly <$10/mo, including top level domain), because you don't mind massive share ratio - even thousands of sites on one server. Once you grow bigger you'll need more system resources and personal server/OS/environment settings for yourself, so you'll be forced to move to some VPS (virtual private server) or dedicated server. You pay the monthly price that depends mostly on available bandwidth (100mbit shared connection is the most usuall case now) and of course hardware used. There are also cloud solutions that I really like for their great scalability and reliability You can check how the prices roughly are for various HW @ ie. http://www.vps.net/Then you also need some domain (usually <10$/year for generic domains - com, net, info, org...), for valuable data some backup space at some other server and other network (which saved our asses in this case) - usually 10$-100$/mo depending on the site's size. If you run your own machine (VPS or dedicated server), you need someone capable of administrating it or let the hosting company take care of that (roughly double the price tag). Yeah, that's a small subdomain issue, I'll wait few hours if wolverine will take care of that and eventually fix it myself...

And I assume it's paid for by yourself and maybe a couple of others... Without this site I would have to go back to continually searching for fan sites of the various people, and looking for cap sites, which was the only way to get caps in the old days. Whenever the site goes down for even just a day I sweat on it coming back again. I think you should put a 'Donate' button somewhere so those of us who wish to can help out, I certainly would like to donate.

The site has reached a point where it supports itself through ads, without needing to put in any extra money of our own. Whatever small amount it eventually generates exceeding hosting costs will be put back in again - there is no financial benefit to us, we only do it for fun. I do it because of Tara Moss and Dannii Minoque threads, czblack does it for H2O girls etc. We all have our reasons for coming back

That's good to know, now we can be less fearful of it disappearing because someone doesn't want to pay for it anymore...

Yeah, no ferraris parked outside my house yet. In fact no house at all yet :) I'm glad this forum finally heads somewhere, we've got several short and long-term plans sketched that will be put into action in following months and there was a lot of invisible work on the site background going on lately that will finish with the main site (hopefully sometime around xmas). And don't worry - we've put into this site too much work to just let it disappear over night...
