There used to be overarching "mark topic(s) read" but now to do it you have to go into each topic. For example the TV Stations, Shows and Movies Forum section requires you to go into each individual forum to mark the read, which can be a pain when I want to mark them all read as I'm not interested at that time.

It is still where i use it inside topic area above page numbers top right. But for each area not the entire board.

Just checked with IE how things work when not logged in, I see that the ZIP link is there, but you get a prompt to login or join up.
I reckon they should see the Thanks button too, and get the same prompt, might encourage more to join if they know they can give thanks.

Two weeks ago I implemented such nagging popup window for non-logged/unregistered users on every 3rd thread view. That means by the time they want to thank someone, they would have seen this nagging popup at least once.

For the purpose of keeping track how many threads unregistered users are viewing, I'm storing this info in the database. The stats are staggering... There have been close to 30,000 visitors who have been presented the nagging popup, one of them must have seen it 260 times and still refused to register! This visitor in particular was browsing for 11 hours straight (777 thread views). Others managed over 400 threads within a few hours.

On a positive note, our registrations per day have increased from 5 to 10 per day on average. Some long time lurkers among them.

I suppose when the bottom line is to see the pics, you don't have to register.
What about if they can see the thumbs, but can't click them and see the full sized pics, unless they register?

Wouldn't go that far, I feel it would go against the (Internet) social norm and it would affect our Google rankings as well.
