Is anyone running Windows 8 and if so what is your feedback regarding the ease of use, the obvious diff from Windows 7?

When I upgrade my system I might go for Windows 8 but not if it is a backwards step from Windows 7.

I work for an IT company and those staff who have upgraded to Windows 8 are quite frustrated with it. And they are experienced so it's not just user being dumb problem. Apparently it doesn't let you easily have more than one window open at the same time, notifications are a pain when you are in desktop mode etc.

I would stay away from for the time being.

I agree with wolverine.

It is a good OS, but has some frustrating features.

This is mainly the "apps" section. Windows isn't very clear on how to operate in this mode; although I didn't read the help section
It took me a while to figure out, that you have to drag a window down to close the program.

It also has no "start" bar, so things like closing down the pc, become a hassle.

That being said, I find it still a great operating system. It has built on Windows 7, and made it in some repects, more "simple" for not so tech savvy operators to use. (with the Internet app, mail app etc).

Still worth getting since it is only $58 -Finally MS has realised that consumers don't want to pay $200 to upgrade there OS.

Later this year they are releasing 8.1, which contains a somewhat rollback for users of a keyboard and mouse.
It's based on feedback and the fact that takeup has been very poor, with a significant number of users buying a Win8 machine, and rolling it BACK to Win7.

I did the opposite, bought a Samsung Series 9 Win7 ultrabook just after Win8 was released - got it for a steal!

Also bought a copy of Win8 in case they do make it worth upgrading to...

Now gone Windows 8.1, getting used to it but seems a lot faster than W7.

i7 Samsung Ultrabook boots in 6 seconds instead of 10 seconds on W7, and IE11 faster than Chrome (bye-bye Google adware)

Liking the tiles thing, not quite as customisable as i'd like (there's more to customising than colors and sounds Microsoft).
But finding settings and options is a nightmare...
