 Need help capping

Did you make these caps with VLC media player? If so, you might want to save them as .png's then convert them to .jpeg's as saving caps as .jpeg's with VLC greatly deteriorates the image quality of snapshots. Also to getter better quality snapshots with VLC media player make sure you turn on deinterlacing (yadif(x2) if your CPU can handle it).

Doesn't do a good job at it, though for ad-removal and editing VideoReDo is great.

I actually prefer it to capturing straight from the tv card, it give's just as good an image in terms of quality, and also captures in wide-screen. Attached is a pic that was taken straight from the source (no software used). You can make a call on which you prefer.

Also, if i was to use editing software in the future to capure images, which would u recommend. CPU performance would not be an issue btw.

Finally, sorry to the mod's, i know its a bit off topic :dizzy:

Like my TV card software it also does screencaps in the wrong aspect ratio, I would recommend doing what I said with VLC media player then using XnView to convert them from .png's to .jpeg's.

If you really get down to it you will find that the best quality comes from TP file then re aspect ratio & maybe a tag while you are at it using XnView * NOTE Bspline filter takes care of the DeInterlace issue.. so try a batch off VLC & also your card the see what is what ..and easiest & best for you .

Cap below is yours, previous post from source, but just re-aspect ratio via Bspline & resized NOTE the stripey interlace is minmal, compared to what you normally post

Hi,

Just wondering what everyone uses to make caps? Is a TV tuner on a computer the best way? I recorded some footage off my dvr and the pics turned out grainy by time i put the footage on my computer and capped a few shots. I was using the prtsc button then copying them into paint and saving. Im assuming thats not the best method considering my caps looked grainy. Any tips would be appreciated.

EDIT by ate = This was the original thread 1st post

get a dvd recorder and dl Power DVD .

Dl the recorded stuff to your pc .

open up selected file with power dvd , pause and snapshot the frame you want .

make sure the saved snapshot is saved as a jpeg .

then post away and be prepared for a thankless job ,
but don't let this stop you as us few will feel your pain .
