Forget DVDflick.

Go to the piratebay and download a copy of ConvertXtoDVD. It works like a charm. One click and it does everything including burning to disc. Very user-friendly and fast.

I've got a problem with DVDFlick. When I try to convert a movie I have d/led, I get a message that says I need NTFS file system because FAT32 can't handle files over 2 GB (I need about 4GB of space, which I have), which means encoding will fail.

Any ideas on how to get around this?

I must admit I have not used a FAT32 format of my HDD in years, always been NTFS. Did you format the drive yourself or did it come that way with the operating system?
What is the operating system you are using?
I just tried googling this problem and without further research does not look promising.

I'm using Windows XP Home Edition (Version 2002), which was pre-loaded onto the machine when I got it. I only have a basic understanding of the OS - most of what I know is self taught, and through trial and error, so I have no idea of FAT32 vs NTFS

I also tried googling, not only NTFS, but DVDFlick forums, and can't find anything there that looks helpful either.

When you bought the computer the HDD should have been formatted as NTFS not FAT32 as problems such as this one occur.

What you could try but dont want to see you go through added expense is an external USB HDD. What I am trying to work out if it is NTFS will you be able to overcome the limitations if DVDFlick is running on your FAT32 HDD in your computer? Not sure so I dont want to give you wrong information.
Really only option may be to backup all your data somewhere and go through the pain of reformatting the existing HDD in NTFS and relaoding XP Home and then all the software you have and all the updates etc, boy I hate when I have to do this and I know what I am doing!!!
Or maybe do you have access to another computer to create the DVDs you want?

the idea of reformatting scares the sh!t outta me. Not only can I not find my XP disc, but a lot of my programs have been "borrowed" (to put it politely)

might have to think about either a 10GB flashdrive maybe, big enough to use DVDFlick, not too expensive. I'm not really a movie person, so I just grab one every now and then when my d/l limit allows, and would like to burn them.

I hope the flash drive works, as I have never had one bigger than 1GB and they are all fat32! Maybe the bigger ones are NTFS?
