In the past before April 15 if you paid for items at the checkout with a Visa Debit card you could press the "credit" button but now you can't do that and the only options left to you are the "cheque" or "savings" button...

All because 1% of their customers was costing them money, by pressing "credit" when paying for their groceries...

This won't just affect Woollies though as there are many other retailers in the Woolworths chain.

* BIG W
* Woolworths Supermarkets
* Safeway Supermarkets
* Woolworths Liquor
* Safeway Liquor
* BW
* Dan Murphy’s
* Dick Smith
* Tandy
* Woolworths Petrol
* Safeway Petrol
* Caltex Woolworths petrol outlets
* Thomas Dux
* ALH bottle shops

Anyway what do you think?

The banks encourage you to press "credit" when making purchases with a debit cards because they say it is more secure. I think pressing "savings" and using a pin more secure than signing a slip of paper that no one reads.

Yeah, but you can use your PIN (instead of signature) when you press credit too. The reason I prefer to use credit is because with my account I can make as many purchases using credit as I like & won't get charged a fee (like I would if I pressed savings). And their both the same account so the money comes out the same way anyway.
