You may also notice that they now have a smaller file size.

I had a bad disk feck up in 2004 & after many hours of CHKDisk it came back however about 20% were like that. the process of sorting thru 900K plus images never appealled ...then i discovered that XnView will leave the dead ones there, original file after doing whatever batch conversion & deleting converts. ( i used to use irFanView but now use XnView as it is faster & saves scripts & remembers where i was looking at + allows compression adjustment ) so nearly 5 years later there are not too many "blanks" left.

Lost soo many good caps - it is amazing how s#it & movement affected caps will prevail over collages & excellent ones in a sequence :(

Ate... try this
http://www.softpedia.com/get/System/Har ... tics.shtml

I've used this to 'revive' a couple of drives in the last few years. It will work on non western digital drives if they are attached to the system as a slave.

I've had drives totally unresponsive, drives that wouldn't boot, and I've been unable to even read them.
This has repaired them to the point where I was able to move almost everything off them onto new drives before junking them into the bin.

Gee, anythings worth a try to get old caps back!!

Oops! must have linked to the floppy version by mistake!
Even if you had a floppy drive that version will only boot and work on a Western Digital drive, the version I use will work on any drive as long as it's a slave.
Did a search and couldn't damn well find the one I was after, so have uploaded it from my setup files archives.
